Being apart of the film festival was an eye opener. We saw many other students who are veterans to filmmaking so being able to watch their films and the way they went about their films was an exciting thing to see. Every film that I watched that wasn’t ours I compared it to the work we produced and picked out the do’s and don’ts, what we should do next time and what we can improve on. Just watching these films made me forget I was at a high school event because of how professional these movies were produced.

Going to New York city was an amazing experience. Being in the film invitational strengthened my teamwork skills in working towards a common a goal. Although it was fun, there were many times where i saw myself being stressed out because of the little time we had to go out and actually produce an entire film on such a touchy subject. I was worried about the challenges, such as not being able to express our story the right way in the film, rushing our work or going to slow. Being an editor only added to my worries because I really felt the pressure while working on trying to perfect our film. There was one night where I stayed up until 2:30 am trying to add a few things to make the following day a bit easier for me and the other two editors. Overall it wasn’t my greatest work. I now know that I have to become more educated on editing instead of trying to use half of what I learned last year and the other half of me trying to just wing it. Although, I wasn’t happy with my specific scene I was happy that at the end when time was ticking away, “WE” as a “TEAM” came through and finished the job and to experience that was a great feeling. |
